The Therapies

McTimoney-Corley Spinal Manipulation

Derived from the McTimoney method of chiropractic, this is a very gentle but extremely effective form of skeletal manipulation. This non-invasive therapy works with the body to promote natural self healing.

Gentle corrective manipulations of the bones of the head, spinal column, pelvis and limbs are undertaken to induce optimum functioning of the nervous and endocrine systems.

This therapy not only relieves pain, will often remove the cause of other dis-ease present and prevent bodily dysfunction.

Sports Massage

Massage is a method used to influence soft tissue manipulation, particularly muscles, involving the systematic application of techniques.

Equine Sports Massage is used to increase performance levels and stamina, as well as reduce the risk of injury due to muscle strain or fatigue.

Massage is beneficial to the horse pre, during and post competition, as well as horses on box rest or in rehabilitation as a maintenance/preventative/healing therapy.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on, non-invasive therapy, working to achieve optimum cerebrospinal fluid flow. Restriction to this flow will result in a decrease in health and cause behavioural changes.

The nervous system provides communication between the cerebrospinal fluid and the fascia throughout the body. Therefore, the health of the craniosacral system can affect, and be affected by every structure in the body.

The rhythm, or flow, can be detected, assessed and influenced using very light palpation and specific techniques. Every organ, system and structure in the body will benefit. CranioSacral Therapy facilitates the body to self heal.

Reiki is the channeling of universal healing energy into the body. This can be delivered with hands or or off the horse, or even as ‘distance healing’. It can be used at specific areas of dysfunction and pain, or as an all over body treatment.

I find using Reiki hugely beneficial  if a horse is too sore or nervous to touch as it soothes and relaxes the horse before further palpation and assessment is carried out.

Reiki also reduces stress and encourages relaxation which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities, boosts the immune system and increases circulation.
